Ford Escort RS2000 MK5

Vehicle Information

The MK5 Ford Escort RS2000 was launched in November 1991. Key to its success was an all-new 150bhp 2.0-litre 16-valve motor and radically revised suspension settings. It matched the hot hatch competition in the visual stakes, too. A deeper front bumper, discreet power bulges in the bonnet and distinctive alloy wheels were all standard. Inside, the RS2000 gained Recaro seats and white dials. A transformed driving experience was also part of the package. Direct steering, together with a balanced and composed chassis, helped the Escort take on the class leaders. Unlike the original RS2000, this model excelled in motorsport. In 1994 and 1995 it won the FWD class on the RAC Rally, before sewing up the British Rally Championship in 1996.

This example has a lovely history file. The original Ford service book contains 10 main dealer service stamps up to 2003, the first being its 1500 mile or 3 months after delivery service at 1,021 miles. Exterior

The optional Pacifica Blue paintwork has a beautiful and consistent gloss throughout and overall finished to a high standard. The paintwork has no lacquer peel or paint fade and just a handful of blemishes to be found around the vehicle.
All glass and lenses are original and in fine condition with all windows including the front windscreen etched with the registration number along with the factory fitted sliding glass sunroof in place. Ford security window stickers remain in place.

Interior

This RS2000’s interior is in a beautiful condition and shows virtually no wear to any of the switch gear, all switch gear functions correctly.
The three spoke sports steering wheel shows virtually no wear and maintains the factory grain. The Recaro sports seats are finished in Panache velour and Dark Grey and are also in excellent order, the side bolsters have not lost shape and the fabric trim is still tight, the driver’s front seat does show some minor staining to the fabric. The rear seats show little to no use and are defect free. The dashboard shows no cracks or unsightly screw holes. The dark grey carpet shows virtually no wear and is protected by floor mats (these are not genuine Ford mats).
The original 2007 RDS is present with the vehicle and security code present in the Ford audio system book. The vehicle has been fitted with an aftermarket period Alpine CDE-9846R CD receiver.

Engine and Transmission

The 2.0 DOHC 16-valve engine produces 150 PS and has a max speed of 129 mph, the RS2000 hits 0 - 60 mph in 8.0 seconds! The engine has benefited from an oil and filter service, new battery and alternator, new aux belt and fluids.
The engine and transmission feel tight, free revving and extremely fast.
The engine bay retains all the factory labels and is finished to a very nice standard.

Wheels, tyres, brakes

The 195/50 VR polished alloy wheels show no curbing and look factory fresh with matching polished centre caps. The alloy wheels are wrapped in matching Pirelli P6000 195/50 tyres and look to have only travelled a few hundred miles. The matching alloy wheel is present. The vehicle has received new front pads and new ventilated front discs, to match the rear has also benefitted from new disc and pads with new brake fluid.
