Vehicle Information

In 1982, a fourth Porsche model came onto the market. The 944 bridged the price and performance gap between the 924 and 911. Although the body of the 944 was based on the 924, it had considerable more striking contours. In 1989, the S2 model replaced the 944 S. It had the more muscular body, rear diffuser and body of the 944 turbo.
The 944 S2 was a radical development of the 944 S. Its 16-valve 3.0 litre engine was one of the most powerful normally-aspirated, 4-cylinder engines in the world at the time. Porsche had applied its unrivalled racing experience to build one of the largest yet smoothest of any 4-cylinder engines.
The 3.0-litre 4-valve engine of the 944 S2 generated 211 hp and brought the successor to the S model to a performance level that almost matched that of the Turbo model.
The 3.0 litre 16-valve 211 bhp engine of the Porsche 944 S2 delivers 0-62.5 mph in 6.9 seconds and onto a maximum speed of 149 mph with 280 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm; these were big numbers in the 80’s. The 944 was therefore viewed as a "true" Porsche in the eyes of drivers.
This striking Guards Red Porsche 944 S2 has just received a major overhaul by Smith Classic and Performance Cars, with the parts and labour totalling over £7,500. We can now give you a sense of how a 944 looked way back in 1989 proudly sitting in that Porsche showroom awaiting its collection.

The body has received new stone guards to all corners.
