Vehicle Information

This 1978 MGB GT has low mileage, few previous owners and a complete service history file. The vehicle does suffer from rust and will need to be restored at some point.
The vehicle can be driven and enjoyed however please be prepared to deal with the corrosion issues at some point.

EXTERIOR

The Brooklands Green paintwork is glossy, shiny, swirl free and not faded.
The chrome work on the vehicle is bright and overall in a nice condition.
The rubber bumpers are free from damage and maintain a deep and correct finish throughout. The original Lucas headlamps and rear lights are in place.
All glass is original with factory stickers and original rear window dealer sticker.

INTERIOR

The interior is original and presents beautifully, the original seat cloth is virtually unmarked and does not suffer from fading or wear. The steering wheel, gauges and switch gear function correctly and do not suffer from wear. The door cards and dash are free from marks, cracking, tears or U.V damage. The original Blaupunkt radio is present with matching speakers and cover plate.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 1798cc four-cylinder twin carburettor engine is original and runs extremely well. The engine has just received a major service and MOT with parts being changed due to age. The engine bay is in an original condition and has been lightly detailed to retain its patina.

WHEELS, TYRES, BRAKES

The original 14-inch Rostyle wheels are in place with some surface rust.
The vehicle is fitted with 4 matching Barum Brillantis 165/80R tyres with ample thread remaining. The rear brakes have been serviced.
The underside, engine and wheel arches have been rust proofed from factory.
The original jack, spanner and spare wheel are present with the spare wheel retaining its original Cinturato tyre.

HISTORY FILE

The vehicle was first supplied new by Westgate Motors on 12th January 1978.
The vehicle was named Maurice (after Morris Garages) by its first owner who bought the vehicle as a 21st birthday present to himself!
The MGB GT’s service history file is impressive.
The history file contains a selection of V5 documents, Leyland Supercover handbook portfolio with all Supercover information, original purchase invoice, original service book with dealer, identification and 1,000 mile dealer service stamps, owners handbook, Austin Morris price list with dealer notes, original MOT certificates and later certificates, original brochure, all keys, original number plates, original tax disc and tax disc holder, a large collection of invoices and lastly a small book the first owner kept which contains all fuel fill ups, mileage and price.
